We will be having a graduate student meeting on Sunday, March 26th as part of this year's AbSciCon. All students and post-docs attending AbSciCon are invited to participate. This meeting will have three parts: a graduate student open discussion on issues surrounding AbGradCon, a panel discussion on the broader implications of the current funding climate for young astrobiologists, and a practice talk session for graduate students slated to give talks at AbSciCon. Refreshments will be provided! If you plan on attending this meeting, please email us at AbGradCon@gmail.com. If you wish to give a practice talk indicate that in your email as practice talk slots will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. The preliminary schedule for the meeting follows:
Sunday, March 26th 5:45 - 9:00 PM, Reagan Building, Room TBA
5:45 - 6:30 PM: Grad student discussion (open to student & post-doc attendees)
6:30 - 7:15 PM: Panel discussion (participants to be announced)
7:15 - 9:00 PM: Practice talks (format & timing follows AbSciCon rules)
We are currently collecting graduate student opinions on AbGradCon and astrobiology funding via this survey. Please participate in the survey and encourage your colleagues to do likewise.
If you have any questions about the graduate meeting, feel free to email us at AbGradCon@gmail.com. You can also use the same email address to RSVP if you plan on attending. We look forward to seeing you in Washington!
