Jennifer Heldmann has earned a BA in Astrogeophysics (Colgate University, 1998), MS in Space Studies with a minor in Geology (University of North Dakota, 1999), and a PhD in Geological Sciences with an emphasis in Planetary Science (University of Colorado at Boulder, 2003). She is now working at the NASA Ames Research Center as a National Research Council Post-doctoral fellow where she is responsible for formulating and conducting investigations of hydrologic systems on both Earth and Mars. Information gleaned from 1) theoretical modeling, 2) spacecraft data analysis, and 3) terrestrial analog field studies are synthesized together to formulate a comprehensive understanding of the results. She has recently served on the Mars Human Precursor Science Steering Group (MHP SSG) chartered by NASA HQ and the Mars Exploration Program Analysis Group (MEPAG) to support Mars exploration planning efforts. Her interest in Astrobiology was sparked by participation in the NASA Ames Astrobiology Academy and she has worked with the Academy program for several years since 1998.
